On the 19th of  October 7 people in our school got to  represent Ireland  in a marathon at the Harriers  race track in Tullamore.

Children from other schools around Offaly got to run too. The runners had to run after the pacemakers.

We came second in the marathon, ahead of  London and Madrid ,only losing out by a few seconds.

On Tuesday the 19th 8 children from our school made up a team of 32 runners, who ran a full marathon between them at the Tullamore Harriers. 17 centres across Europe took part. Offaly came 2nd in a time of 2 hours, 3 minutes and 45 seconds. This was astounding in that the the previous World record for a marathon was 2 hours 3 minutes and 59 seconds. We were just pipped for 1st place by Spain.
