Since September 5th class have been participating in Dissolving Boundaries. Through this programme the class are paired up with children in the North of Ireland. Durrow have been communicating with the children in the North through a website where they have been posting in forums, blogging, creating wikis and video conferencing with the other school. This week the children in Durrow finally had the opportunity to meet the children they have been paired with. The face to face meeting took place in Tanagh in Monaghan . The children took part in team building tasks, canoeing, jumping in bog holes and going down the mud slide. All the children had a great day and enjoyed meeting their partners.

Over the past 2 weeks 5th Class were busy working in groups to create a display based on the Olympics. Each group worked very well in their groups and ended up making very impressive displays. Next each group in 5th class will create wiki based on the Olympics in the next couple of weeks. They will do this with the students in Maghera, in Derry who they are twinned with. 5th class have been busy over the past week doing a project based on the Olympic Games. When they are finished these projects they will present them to Maghera PS in Derry using Video conferencing. The two schools will then create a web page based on the Olympics.

5^th class are twinned with a school in the North of Ireland. The school is located above Lough Neagh in Co. Derry. Their school is called Maghera Primary School. We will be communicating with them over the Internet during the year and learning all about them. There are 26 of them and 27 of us. The project is called Dissolving Boundaries and we will complete projects during the year to do with the theme ‘To Infinity and Beyond.’ In March we hope to go to Monaghan to meet them. We looked up their school on ‘Google Street View’ and you can see the picture here. Their school is much smaller then ours and is located in a small town. We are really looking forward to doing projects with them.
